Companions and mythics
A hero keeps up to six companions and marches with one. They are tamed after camps the hero led, grow with his battles, and give a bonus to the army he leads or to his capital. Feed them with camp spoils to level them up.

The twenty mythics
Twenty mythic creatures of Romanian folklore, one of each kind per era, each with its own bonus and a second, fixed one. They go to the first twenty heroes who reach level 70 — and to nobody else.
